Where to Find Content for Your Online Marketing

Where to Find ContentSearch engines and social media have forced companies of all sizes to become publishers of compelling content.  Interruptive advertising is out, and info marketing is in.  And is here to stay.  How can you keep up with the constant requirement to produce and publish useful information regularly?

Two Types of Content Production

Luckily, there is more than one way to produce content.  Depending on your style and the needs of your business, you can choose to focus on just one of these methods or find a blend of the two.

Here they are:

Content Curation — this is often the easiest form of content production for people, especially those who are more research oriented.  Content curation primarily involves consuming other sources of content — blog postings, social media updates, webinars, online videos — and distilling them to separate the good from the bad  With no barriers to publishing online, there is plenty of misleading information available, and there is value when someone is consistently able to collect and editorialize the useful information.

Content Creation — while sometimes a little more difficult, creating original content like guides, how-tos, and editorial pieces helps you to present a specific point of view that’s unique to your company.  You may still use other online content for inspiration, but your content may present a different perspective than the original author presented.

Whatever style of content production you choose to focus on, the more you can identify and plan topics ahead of time and align with the changing nature of your business, the better prepared you will be when it comes to actually producing content that’s relevant to your audience.
