Inbound Marketing Process Step 2: Design

TwoDesign is the bridge between the planning and execution phases when creating your online presence.  Once planning has been completed, you can start mapping how exactly what needs to be implemented to achieve your inbound marketing goals.

During the design phase, you will create tangible assets that move the overall inbound marketing process along to the content creation phase.

There are five parts to completing the design phase:

  1. Identify websites that you like and don’t like
  2. Create a site map that outlines site content structure
  3. Draw wireframes to describes site layout and functionality
  4. Select colors and font styles to solidify look and feel
  5. Produce a site mockup in an image editing program

Going through these steps makes the content creation and implementation phases easier because many questions will be have been asked and answered already, and anyone involved in the process will be able to see clearly what to expect once the website is created.  The design phase is where the intangible becomes tangible for everyone.

I’ll go into more detail for each of these items over the next few days.
